A Tulsa cab driver is recovering after being beaten and robbed outside an East Tulsa apartment complex late Sunday Night.

Officer Ryan Melchior tells KTUL.com, the driver had picked two men up from the Southern Hills Marriott earlier in the evening. They directed the him to the Southport Apartment Complex near 61st & South 107th East Avenue. That's where the two men then pulled handguns on the driver, striking him in the eye.

Melchior says the suspects fled North from the complex, taking with them the driver's cell phone and about 200 dollars in cash.

Police say the driver was not severely injured. He was treated on scene by EMSA for a wound over his eye.

A friend of the cab driver, Sabah Hardani, tells KTUL.com, she's "glad he's okay" and added "we need to do something to protect the community."

Police describe the suspects as two short black males with short hair. One is described as skinny with a "chinstrap" beard. Both were wearing dark clothing.
