"It's been a busy summer at BA's Tiger Window Tinting where a brutal sun has kept Shane Edmounds flooded with customers.
"Mostly it is women who drive their kids around who want to keep their kids cool," he said.
But once the sun goes down, some of that darker tinting can cause issues for cops.
"Newer officers are coming out they're saying hey we're having a lot of problems seeing into vehicles at night and it's creating a safety concern for them," said Officer John Daniels.
So the department just bought 10 tint meters, that detect how much light is passing through your window. We tried it out on one of our news vehicles.
"So to be legal this number needs to be at least 25, so Channel 8, we should watch ourselves in Broken Arrow, yeah, because now you're subject to tint laws," said Officer Daniels.
But hold on, our renegade status was short lived, cause according to Shane...
"For an SUV or a van, it's 25 on the front two and the rest of it can be as dark as you want," he said.
So we're legal again. Which is good though cause tickets for violating the tint law can be up to $200 bucks, and now matter how much tint you have on your window, that's bound to raise your temperature.
"The people who want it darker, they're just taking their chance.," said Edmounds.
