Fire Crews Battle Large Fire at City Dump

Posted: Updated:

Firefighters were called out Thursday evening to battle a large north Tulsa fire.

It broke out at the Waste Management plant on 46th Street North just east of Highway 169.

The blaze sent thick, black smoke climbing over north Tulsa just before sunset.

Crews knocked it down quickly with water while workers at the plant used bulldozers to smother the flames.

It's too early to tell what caused it, but investigators say it may have been sparked by a hot spot from a fire in the same place on July 2.
