Tulsa Not Intimidated By Cyclones

Posted: Updated:

The University of Tulsa is getting used to beginning the year away from home.  Their trip to Iowa State Saturday will be their sixth straight season opener on the road.

In the previous five the Golden Hurricane are 3-2.  Last year they lost to Oklahoma (47-14) and to East Carolina (51-49) in 2010.  The three victories came in 2007, 2008, and 2009 at UL-Monroe (35-17), UAB (45-22) and Tulane (37-13).

Saturday TU will play in front of 55,000 at Iowa State's Jack Trice Stadium.  But don't expect Tulsa to be intimidated by a Big 12 team or a packed house.

"We opened up a year ago at Oklahoma.  We played a Notre Dame with a lot of guys who are on this roster." TU Coach Bill Bakeshop said, "We played at Boise with a packed house.  There are some environments that we've played in, so I don't think our guys will freak out going into Iowa State.  We've prepared.  We've worked our silent cadence for the crowd noise.  I feel like we're prepared for that.

The Golden Hurricane will kickoff with the Cyclones in Ames, IA Saturday at 2:30pm.
