Part of Highway 169 Dedicated To Fallen Collinsville Soldier

Posted: Updated:

A section of Highway 169 is dedicated to a Collinsville soldier who died in Afghanistan.

Specialist Christopher Horton with the Oklahoma National Guard was a sniper.

He died September 9th of 2011 during an attack on his unit.

Thursday, a section of Highway 169  at 106th street north  was named after Horton.

Horton's wife, Jane,  is comforted that her husband died doing what he loved.

"When you lose the love of your life, you can't tell them that you love them anymore. There's nothing that you can do but represent them here on this Earth and do everything to preserve their memory here. And I'm so thankful to the people who are trying to help me with that and that's all I'm trying to do."

Thursday's dedication is the result of a Senate bill.

It designates four sections of Highway 169 to fallen soldiers.
