A unique school is trying to take Tulsa's volunteer spirit to a whole new level.
The little lighthouse is hoping to give it's special students, even more personalized care.
It's a sizable undertaking, but they think Tulsans will step up and answer the challenge.
They want to add 40 additional volunteers, so that there is a 1 to 1 ration with the students. but they think Tulsans will step-up.
Volunteer Coordinator Charis Key says she confident it will work out, because of the experience the volunteers enjoy.
Once they get to work with the students, they are usually touched by the loving and open attitudes of the children.
John Land is a young professional who says he looks forward to his time at the Little Lighthouse every week.
He says working with the students is an amazing experience and it's gratifying to see, how they make progress during the school year.
Land will tell you he gets back far more than he puts into the effort.
The key times they need help are between 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM Monday through Thursday, because that's when the students are in class.
Anyone over the age of 14 can take part.
