Sooners Roll Over Florida A&M, 69-13

Posted: Updated:

By the looks of things, OU needs to get its act together quickly - just two weeks from tonight, Kansas State pays a visit to Norman.  Remember, that's a Wildcats team that beat Miami by 39 points in Week 2.

What better way for the Sooners to tune-up for K-State than by playing Florida A&M, out of the Football Championship Subdivision.

Damien Williams ran for 156 yards and four touchdowns in a record-setting Owen Field debut, Kenny Stills added 120 yards receiving and a score, and No. 5 Oklahoma beat the Rattlers 69-13.

Williams' rushing total was the most for a player in his first game at the Sooners' home field, and he became only the fourth player at the school to eclipse 100 yards rushing in each of his first two games. Adrian Peterson was the last to do it, in 2004.

"If I see daylight, I feel like I'm gone," Williams told the AP. "If somebody catches me, I'm going to pat them on the head and say, `Good job. You're going to have to keep doing it.' But I feel like if I see grass, I'm going to get it."

Landry Jones threw for 252 yards and two touchdowns with one interception for the Sooners (2-0), who had dropped a spot in the rankings after an unimpressive 24-7 victory in their opener at UTEP.

The win was Landry's 31st as quarterback for the Sooners, moving him past Jamelle Holieway for second in school history. Jones can tie Steve Davis' record with a win over No. 21 Kansas State.
