The 18th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys get out of the gates fast against the Arizona Wildcats Saturday night in Tucson, but can't hold on to the lead and lose by 21. The Cats beat the Pokes 59-38.
Wes Lunt and the Cowboys jumped out to a 14-0 lead with two touchdown passes to Tulsa Union product Tracy Moore. Moore had four touchdown catches of 9, 30, 9 and 22 yards. He caught eight passes for 106-yards.
Once OSU built a 14-0 lead the Wildcats got it going and scored 30 unanswered points. A combination of turnovers and penalties did the Cowboys in. The Pokes set a new school record with 15 penalties for 167 yards.
Oklahoma State committed four turnovers. Arizona had none.
Lunt threw for 436-yards on 37-of-60 passing with four touchdowns and three interceptions.
The Cowboys would pull within two in the 3rd quarter after Jeremy Smith scored from 10-yards out to make it 30-28 Arizona. But the Wildcats outscored OSU 28-10 to end the game.
OSU running back Joseph Randle rushed the ball for 123-yards on 23 carries. Smith ran for 77-yards on 8 carries.
Arizona quarterback Matt Scott had 320-yards and two scores.
The Wildcats get their first win over the Pokes in their last three meetings.
Oklahoma State (1-1) returns home next Saturday, September the 15 against the University of Louisiana. Kickoff is set for 11:00am.
