We're just days away from the return of "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy" to Tulsa's Channel 8.
And for the last 30 years, one woman has been a fixture on "Wheel" turning both heads and vowels with her style and beauty. Channel 8's Kristin Dickerson caught up with Vanna White a few weeks ago in Los Angeles to chat about life and "Wheel's" 30th Season.
KRISTIN: We see you every night but what's the whole day like? what's your schedule?
VANNA: "Well I show up about nine in the morning with no make up and wet hair. And they do my make up. They do my hair. They dress me and I go out there at noon and we start our first show and we usually do five or six shows a day."
KRISTIN: "And what is the story behind the clothing? they're given to you er...lent to you."
VANNA: "Yes, I don't get to keep any of them. Unfortunately, I know but they're fun to wear. You know the shoes are mine, the jewelry is mine but the clothes aren't."
KRISTIN: "What are you passionate about outside of the show?"
VANNA: "Well, I'm a mother of two and my son just went away to college every mother knows and father too, it's so hard to let them go you know. But he's happy, so everything's good. So, when I'm not tending to my children I enjoy crocheting. That's a big hobby of mine."
KRISTIN: "Do you have your own brand of yarn?"
VANNA: "I do."
KRISTIN: "how neat."
VANNA: "I know it's so much fun, I love it and the most important thing about that is I give back half of my proceeds to Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital. So, it goes to a good cause. That really is special in my heart."
KRISTIN: "What do you love most about this job after thirty years?"
VANNA: "After thirty years, my favorite part is just seeing the happiness we bring to people."
KRISTIN: "What's it been like working with pat all these years? how do you...cause that's a long time working with someone."
VANNA: "Thirty years and we have never had one argument."
KRISTIN: "Really?"
VANNA: "Can you believe that?"
KRISTIN: "You gotta have good chemistry."
VANNA: "I know, I can't believe it. I...I don't know, it's better than most married couples."
KRISTIN: "For all of our viewers who have been watching you forever, like myself and the ones who weren't fortunate enough to come out here and meet you in person, what would you tell them for watching you for so long?"
VANNA: "I would say thank you so much for watching and enjoying wheel of fortune. Please keep doing it. We wouldn't be here with out you. So, thank you."
You can look for more behind the scenes looks at both shows in the coming days.
