Bartlesville residents pause to remember September 11th, and welcome a special guest who lived through the tragedy.

Organizers with the Bartlesville Blue Star Mothers and Ladies Connection are hosting the memorial event tonight at 6:00 at Doenges Park Stadium.

Free Hot dogs, chips, cookies and drinks are being offered by the local American Legion baseball team. Organizers said the whole concept is to recognize the armed forces and military. Service members in the crowd will be asked to stand up and say their name and branch.

At 6:30 p.m., attendees will get to hear from Brian Clark, a New York native who lived through the September 11th attack at the World Trade Center.

Channel 8 photojournalist Jack Fain spoke to Clark just after he landed in Tulsa.

Clark was in an office six floors above where the 2nd plane crashed. He had been trained to be a fire marshal for the floor, and was told his tower was safe and secure.

"At 9:03, boom, we got hit on the south side of our building at the 78th floor. I was still six floors above the impact," Clark said. "With someone else, I dug through the debris, got out of the south tower with about four minutes to spare. I was about a block and a half away when the tower collapsed."

Clark was able to rescue someone on the way down. He said he feels blessed to have the chance to tell his story, and offers an encouraging message.

"I really am left with a chance to give some people some hope, that the world hasn't ended. We can look forward, we can't change history, it happened, and we must move on with our lives."

Clark was invited to Bartlesville after a close friend told her sister, who lives in the area, about him.
