Jack Wing, the voice behind runs in Tulsa, has passed away.

He had been battling cancer for the past few years.  He was in remission, but was recently undergoing aggressive treatment.

Trani Matthews owns Tulsa Runner and is a friend of Wing's.

"I knew Jack's voice a long time before I knew Jack," Matthews says, "Anyone who's done races in Tulsa knows his voice at the finish line."

Matthews says that voice was a "pick-me-up" for runners ending their races.

Wing always stayed strong through his treatments. "He was definitely one of those ornery guys," Matthews laughs.  "He never really let it get in the way of doing the things he loved to do."

His wife, Sharon, is an avid runner also.

The community has shown their support through social media sites like Twitter and Facebook.
