It's hard to believe, for me at least and maybe for you too, that it's been 11-years since the terrorists attacks on September 11th, 2001.
It's one of those days you'll never forget.
The sports community shut down for the week following 9|11. And some wondered if that was long enough.
When sports returned to the playing field fans wore their patriotism on their sleeves and everywhere else they could put the red white and blue.
Tulsa head football coach Bill Blankenship was at Union High School back then. He recalls the moment when someone first told him that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center.
"I had imagined some little single engine plane had somehow crashed into a building." Blankenship said, "I walked into the lounge where we were watching. And seeing the smoke and all that stuff and saw the second plane fly into the building and it was unbelievable. That whole day just like everybody else it felt like we were under attack as a nation."
