The University of Tulsa has announced the firing of University President Geoffrey Orsak effective immediately.
Orsak was originally hired back in May to replace then outgoing President Stedman Upham.
University officials confirm to KTUL.com, that Orsak was granted a leave of absence on Tuesday to attend to family medical issue.
According to a statement released to KTUL.com early Wednesday Evening, "TU Executive Vice President Kevan Buck has been authorized by the board to manage the day-to-day operations of the university."
Ryan DeCook, a Freshman, told KTUL.com, Orsak seemed like a "very phenomenal guy, he seemed like an upstanding guy." DeCook went onto say that he "hopes he's doing well."
Freshman Clay Holden says it was "shocking" for this to happen three weeks into the school year. Holden added that he's "only been there a few weeks but he seemed like a great guy."
No immediate explanation was given as to the firing.
