Pryor -

A manhunt in Pryor ended in a shootout Thursday morning.

It began after The Grand River Dam Authority police got a call about a stolen car. A man and a woman were inside and the chase was on.

OHP, Mayes County and the GRDA police followed the car until the chase ended in a field near Highway 69A and Oakwood Drive, authorities said.

Police apprehended the woman, but the man took off. He hid in the woods for about an hour, and then came out near a home. An OHP trooper, Mayes County deputy and a GRDA police officer saw him walking out of the brush, pointing a gun at them.

Investigators said all three officers fired at the man, who later died. It's unclear if he shot his gun or how many times he was hit.

No officers were hit, according to the Mayes County Sheriff's Office.

Pryor Schools locked down Lincoln, Jefferson and the high school campuses during the event.

Names of the two suspects have not been released.
