Tulsa, OK -
It's no secret that a lot of Oklahoma bridges are in bad shape. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says 634 bridges need to be repaired or replaced. ODOT says additional state funding gives them the money they need to fix all of them in just eight years.
Tulsans who learned about the plan Thursday are applauding it. "I think we need to fix the bridges," said Bruce McCall. "Most of them you can see visible signs of disrepair," Andrew treat told Tulsa's Channel 8. The ODOT says it's the result of 40 years of under funding. Now ODOT thanks to federal and state funds has $5.5 billion for bridges and other highway improvements. It will tackle all of the bridges on the deficient list over the next eight years.
the plan's mapped out... these are projects slated in Tulsa. "I think it's great. We need to fix them. It's our safety. It's a big and important thing," said Cheryl Geiter.
