About a half-inch of rain has fallen since the latest cold front and storm system moved through Tulsa overnight. At almost 7 inches below where we should be for rain right now, this is definitely needed for a parched area such as ours. Although the burn-ban remains for the state, this latest dose of moisture will certainly help the drought situation just a little.
Meteorologist Andrew Kozak (follow him on Facebook here ---> Andrew Kozak KTUL ) explains that not everyone will get a soaking rain all weekend, but showers will be scattered at least through the first part of Sunday, with nearly no severe weather threat.
Expect total amounts to top an inch or even slightly more near Tulsa, with the heaviest amounts of rain located in far East and Northeast Oklahoma. There, 2 to 3 inches may fall before the weekend is over with!
Temperatures will remain cool as well, with highs mainly in the upper 60s; 70s if we're lucky. This is on average 15-20 degrees cooler than normal!
We'll all clear out early next week, after a chance of a few thunderstorms on Monday- and have a chance to enjoy sunny skies and comfortable temperatures starting Tuesday.
Stay dry!
