A young Blackwell man dies after a head on crash in Pawnee County.
It happened Friday evening on Highway 18 about two miles east of Pawnee.
William Birdshead, of Pawnee, and Joseph N. Jenkins, of Blackwell, were riding north. Another car, driven by 22-year-old Derek Thompson of Calumet, was heading southbound.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers said both vehicles crossed the centerline and hit at the right front headlights.
Joseph Jenkins was killed on impact and taken to a Pawnee funeral home. Birdshead was critically injured and taken to a Tulsa hospital.
Thompson was not hurt.
Troopers said none of the men involved were wearing seatbelts. They are still investigating the cause.
On Sunday night a tornado went through the town of Carney. It destroyed or damaged about 40 homes. When you look out at the area there are homes in every direction that show some kind of damage. Some of the families that have lived there for 17 years and have never been through anything like this. They didn't even have enough time to get their family in the shelter.
