
High school students from Northeast Oklahoma area schools are attending a workshop today to help them coordinate their own blood drives.
The Oklahoma Blood Institute's Northeastern Oklahoma High School Workshop will begin today at 8 am and last until noon. The event will take place at the Glenpool Conference Center in Glenpool.
According to a press release, 148 students and advisors representing 13 area high schools are enrolled to attend the blood institute's workshop. Sessions at the event include: leadership, scholarship programs, blood product information and how to plan blood drives.
Students and advisors attending the workshop will learn how to support their community's blood supply and the needs of patients in Northeastern Oklahoma area hospitals. High school-aged students are vital contributors to Oklahoma's blood supply, according to the press release.
Some of the schools enrolled for the workshop include:
- Bixby High School
- Catoosa High School
- Claremore High School
- Locust Grove High School
- Victory Christian School
