BRUSSELS, April 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Conference Board Leading Economic Index® (LEI) for France increased 0.6 percent in February to 114.5 (2004 = 100), following a 0.4 percent increase in January, and a 0.3 percent decrease in December.
At the same time, The Conference Board Coincident Economic Index® (CEI) for France, a measure of current economic activity, was unchanged in February at 103.9 (2004 = 100), following a 0.2 percent decrease in January, and a 0.2 percent increase in December.
The LEI for France improved for the second consecutive month, and its six-month growth rate remains in positive territory. However, the CEI for France has been on a downward trend for more than a year and the weaknesses among its components are widespread. Taken together, the recent behavior of the composite indexes suggests that economic activity may begin improving slowly in the near term.
About The Conference Board Leading Economic Index® (LEI) for France
The composite economic indexes are the key elements in an analytic system designed to signal peaks and troughs in the business cycle. The leading and coincident economic indexes are essentially composite averages of several individual leading or coincident indicators. They are constructed to summarize and reveal common turning point patterns in economic data in a clearer and more convincing manner than any individual component – primarily because they smooth out some of the volatility of individual components.
The seven components of The Conference Board Leading Economic Index® for France include:
Yield Spread, 10 year minus Day-Day Loan
Stock Price SBF 250 Index
Building Permits, residential
New Unemployment Claims
Industrial New Orders
Production Expectations
Ratio Deflator of Manufacturing Value Added to Unit Labor Cost

For the past three years, the 3 Gun Nation Pro Series shooting competition has only been for men. This year, they are opening it up to an elite group of women, and a Tulsa Police officer is one of those women. Ten ladies have earned their spot on this pro series. Each pro has to use a riffle, shotgun, and pistol, and it's not easy to be a master of all three.
