Oklahoma Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb is doing his part to help keep young professionals from leaving the Sooner State.

The Edmond Republican will host the inaugural Young Professionals Conference on Friday at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City. The event begins at 9 a.m.

Lamb says the goal of the conference is to keep Oklahoma's best and brightest young college graduates in the state. The conference will provide an opportunity for young professionals to meet with leaders and peers from a variety of backgrounds.

Among those scheduled to speak at this year's event are House Speaker-designate T.W. Shannon, a Lawton Republican, and 2 of the youngest members of the Oklahoma House - 25-year-old Democratic Rep. Emily Virgin of Norman and 23-year-old Republican Rep. Elise Hall of Oklahoma City.
