KTUL Tulsa's Channel 8 is ecstatic to introduce to viewers Chief Meteorologist Jennifer Zeppelin, the first female chief meteorologist in Tulsa.

Zeppelin is an Emmy award-winning meteorologist who has covered weather events across the South to the Rockies. She earned a double degree from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a Bachelor of Science in Geosciences with an emphasis in forecasting and severe weather.

Getting her start in broadcasting while in college, she anchored Farmweek, an agricultural show airing across the state of Mississippi. After graduation Jennifer became meteorologist for WHLT-TV in Hattiesburg, Miss., eventually moving to WAPT-TV in Jackson, Miss. before continuing on to KTBS-TV in Shreveport, La. and KABB-TV in San Antonio, Texas. Zeppelin worked most recently at KCNC-TV in Denver, Colo. as meteorologist for the morning and noon newscasts.

Zeppelin's move to the state of Oklahoma came as decision made by her family when her husband took a position at The Oklahoma State University Foundation in Stillwater.

Jennifer is a familiar face to Tulsa-area viewers as she has spent the last 9 months filling in as meteorologist for Tulsa's Channel 8. In that time she not only gained a large fan base, but also impressed station employees with her positive disposition and weather professionalism.

"It is an extreme honor to be able to announce Jennifer as our Chief Meteorologist," says Pat Baldwin, President and General Manager of Tulsa's Channel 8. "In the last few months she has shown all of us that she not only loves what she does, but also is serious about protecting our viewers from severe weather. We believe Oklahomans will welcome her on board wholeheartedly."

Jennifer Zeppelin is married to Jim Berscheidt and they have a 10-year old son.

Zeppelin holds seals of approval from both the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. She will lead the weather team of weekend meteorologist Mike Collier and morning meteorologist Andrew Kozak and officially will take the reigns as head of the Tulsa's Channel 8 weather department Sunday, September 23 during Tulsa's Channel 8 at 10 p.m.
