The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag fire warning for the western half of Oklahoma and says the fire danger is critical.
The warning has been issued for 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday.
The warning area extends westward from just east of Oklahoma City to the Texas state line and from the Kansas state line to the north to the Oklahoma-Texas border to the south.
The weather service says afternoon temperatures will be in the low to mid-90s with the humidity as low as about 15%. Southwesterly winds of 20 to 25 miles per hour are forecast with gusts up to 35 to 40 miles per hour.
Much of the area is also under a burn ban issued by Gov. Mary Fallin.
