Admiral Twin Business Booming, Season Extended

More than three months after the Admiral Twin drive-in theater, 7355 E. Easton, re-opened, business is thriving.

Things are going so well that the owners have decided to extend the season into the fall.

The drive-in started showing movies again back in mid-June.

It was destroyed by fire in September 2010.

We're told how long they stay open will depend on the weather and how they do competing against high school, college, and professional football.

"It's a tough task to go up against football but," says co-owner Blake Smith. "The resurgence and the fire has made us more high profile, so with that in mind, we just think we need to stay open longer."

This weekend, the movies showing include "Finding Nemo" and "Trouble With the Curve."

The owners hope to upgrade to a digital projection as early as 2014.

On Sunday night a tornado went through the town of Carney. It destroyed or damaged about 40 homes. When you look out at the area there are homes in every direction that show some kind of damage. Some of the families that have lived there for 17 years and have never been through anything like this. They didn't even have enough time to get their family in the shelter.
