McAlester Man Facing Child Abuse Charges

A McAlester man is facing charges of child abuse after he allegedly assaulted a 14 year-old girl with a golf club.

According to a report from the McAlester Police Department, Kevin Dewayne Shirley, 38, was arrested Sunday Night after he reportedly assaulted the girl and struck her in the face with a golf club.

Court records indicate Shirley has been charged with one count of Child Abuse and one count of Public Intoxication.

KTUL.com has also learned that a protective order was filed against Shirley on Monday.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for October.
