Airlines Raking In Bucks On Baggage Fees

Posted: Updated:

The nation's airlines are raking in record profits from every baggage fee.

Those fees, starting at $25, added up to $1.7 billion in just the first six months of 2012.

Delta topped the list making nearly $430 million.

United was second with $351 million.

And it's just getting worse.

Spirit Airlines will charge up to $100 for a carry-on bag.

Southwest is taking advantage of the situation with their "bags fly free" campaign.
