A local soldier is asking the community to help the family of a wounded soldier.
This past July, SFC Cedric King lost both of his legs and some fingers when he stepped on an explosive while serving in Afghanistan.
He's still undergoing extensive rehab on his severely injured arm as well.
As you can imagine, it's taking a toll on his wife and two daughters, 8-year-old Amari and 5-year-old Khamya.
His friend and fellow soldier, Thomas Hotaling, says this man deserves your support.
"He always helped me grow in the military, he helped me grow as a person," says Hotaling. "That type of mentorship is someone that I've kept close to me, so he's really more of a brother than a friend and I've treated this as helping out a family member."
Hotaling has been raising money for the past month and now he's partnering with QuikTrip for a benefit car wash this weekend.
It's taking place Saturday, Sept. 29, at the QT at 81st St. and Memorial Dr.
It runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
