The Northbound lanes of Highway 169 are flowing freely again after a loose cow caused a three car accident, late Thursday Night.

It happened around 11 p.m. just South of the interchange with 36th Street North.

The first driver could not see the animal until they were literally on top of it.  Driver Dave Vanpaepeghen was driving North on the expressway when his Chevy Malibu collided with the cow. Vanpaepeghen told KTUL.com, "about the time you realize it's a cow it's too late."

Vanpaepeghen believes his car is going to be totaled following the wreck.

Police on scene were unable to give any explanation as to the cow's origins. In total, three vehicles were involved in the wreck.  Police say no one was injured.
