North Tulsa -
A North Tulsa man is in Police custody after he fled the scene of an active meth lab, late Sunday Night.
It all started around 10:15 when an officer patrolling the neighborhood near Pine and Delaware noticed a suspicious odor coming from a home. When he went to investigate, a man, identified as 32 year-old Donnie Bratton Jr., ran from the home, leading officers on a brief foot pursuit through the neighborhood.
The chase came to an end about a block away. That's where the Bratton jumped over a privacy fence and police were able to catch up with him. He put up a brief struggle with the arresting officers and O.C. spray had to be utilized to get the suspect into custody.
Bratton reportedly told officers he ran because he thought they were 'burglars, trying to rob him.'
Tulsa Police Captain Dave Roberts told KTUL.com, their biggest concern with an active meth lab is the "danger of a fire or an explosion." Roberts said, "Just the chemicals in the area too" pose a risk. He noted in the 10 or 15 minutes that he had been standing out there that he was getting a "headache" and added, "I can imagine having to live next to that is not going to be very pleasant."
Bratton was arrested and booked on Manufacturing charges along with resisting arrest. Also taken into custody at the scene was 30 year-old Sara Knight. She was arrested and booked on the same charges.
