Women seeking to return to college after several years away from formal education can do so at a workshop being offered Thursday afternoon.
The ninth annual "Women in Transition" workshop will offer advice and an opportunity to meet with local education organizations and financial aid advisers for those in attendance. The workshop will have two sessions: 8:30 am to noon at the OSU-Tulsa campus and 4:30 to 8:30 pm at Tulsa Community College's Southeast Campus.
According to the release, a new job, updated work skills, career advancement and more money are among the top reasons why women go to college after their absence from school. Participants at the workshop will hear women's inspirational stories about how they managed to return to school while managing jobs and family responsibilities.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about financial aid options to make it possible for them to go to college and take a computerized career assessment. Scholarships also will be awarded at the conclusion of each session.

On Sunday night a tornado went through the town of Carney. It destroyed or damaged about 40 homes. When you look out at the area there are homes in every direction that show some kind of damage. Some of the families that have lived there for 17 years and have never been through anything like this. They didn't even have enough time to get their family in the shelter.
