More Commuter Headaches Monday On I-244 - KTUL.com - Tulsa, Oklahoma - News, Weather & Sports

The trip down I-244 into Tulsa is getting tougher for motorists.
Starting Monday at 7:00, crews will close all east bound lanes between 129th east Avenue and the I-44 junction.
This closure will last until January, according to ODOT.
Drivers will be detoured to southbound Highway 169 and then onto eastbound I-44. Local traffic can still use eastbound I-244 to Garnett Rd. or 129th E. Avenue.
The closure is part of a major project to completely replace highway pavement and rebuild crumbling bridges.
On Sunday night a tornado went through the town of Carney. It destroyed or damaged about 40 homes. When you look out at the area there are homes in every direction that show some kind of damage. Some of the families that have lived there for 17 years and have never been through anything like this. They didn't even have enough time to get their family in the shelter.
