State Fair Organizers Report Just Over A Million in Attendance

Fair organizers announced Thursday that just over a million people experienced this years entertainment, attractions and displays of Oklahoma tradition at the Tulsa State Fair.


Officials with the fair said an estimated 1,022,000 visitors attended this years Tulsa State Fair during its 11-day run from Sept. 27 through Oct. 7. The fair featured events such as livestock shows, competitive exhibits and attractions for both adults and children.


"Our reputation is to provide a safe, clean, friendly and fun event for our consumers, and this year did not disappoint," president and CEO Mark Andrus said. "We are committed to being better than the year before, and will continue to develop new partnerships and bring new attractions to make your fair the best it can be."


Despite the weather, paid gate increases were reported on both Sundays, with the first being the largest Sunday on record, according the fair's press release. However, organizers also reported an estimated 9 percent decrease in attendance at the fair.


State fair organizers also announced next year's theme: "Pass the Corndog!" The 2013 Tulsa State Fair is slated to begin Sept. 26 and run through Oct.6.
