OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma groups are marking White Cane Safety Day to help remind motorists that blind pedestrians have the right of way.
A ceremony is set for 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Outlet Shoppes at Oklahoma City, with NewView Oklahoma, the Heartland Council of the Blind, and the U.S. Veterans Administration.
Participants will hear from a number of speakers, including Oklahoma House Speaker Kris Steele.
NewView Oklahoma employs more than 70 blind and visually impaired people in a range of occupations.
NewView is a private, nonprofit organization and used to be known as the Oklahoma League for the Blind.
