Phone Problems Plague Portions Of Tulsa Metro Area

Posted: Updated:

Folks are reporting trouble with land-line telephones across Tulsa Tuesday.

Cox Communications reports an issue with its services for business customers.

AT&T representatives say a fiber line was cut in the Okmulgee area this morning.

A company spokesperson said technicians are working to fix it, but there's no specific timeframe on when it will happen.

The problems are affecting stores and even police departments. Sapulpa police reported Tuesday morning that their non-emergency system was out of order. Service was partially restored by the afternoon.

"Our 911 system is still up and running," said assistant deputy chief Mike Haefner. "For now, if citizens need police, fire, or medical assistance please dial 911."

KTUL staffers have also had trouble making calls to land lines in Creek County, Jenks and east Tulsa.

Representatives say they deployed the Critical Response Plan which sent repair teams out as fast as possible.

Calls are being re-routed through a secondary platform is being used to ensure the server is not overwhelmed by so many calls.

When customers call affected businesses, callers will get a recorded message that the phone lines are down.

We will continue to update this story as more and more customers are returned to service.
