A 26-year-old teacher is being sought by Pawnee County authorities for allegedly having a sexual relationship with one of her students.
An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday for the arrest of Katie Megan Hightower, resident of Terlton, on charges of second degree rape and furnishing an alcoholic beverage to a minor.
According to the affidavit, two students at Prue High School, where Hightower is listed as a teacher, approached an officer with written statements describing an incident that occurred back in August after a football scrimmage.
In their statements, both students wrote that after the scrimmage, Hightower took them to her home, bought them alcohol and disappeared to her bedroom with a 16-year-old boy and had sexual intercourse.
The students also said Hightower rode on the bus to the scrimmage and during their trip back home, she sat next to the boy where one of the students could hear them talking about hanging out after school.
During the drive to Hightower's home, both student said she called the boy "babe" and laid her head on his lap, according to the document.
After dropping off the boy's vehicle at his house, the students said Hightower purchased them pizza and beer at a Walmart and then proceeded to her home.
According to the affidavit, the students consumed the pizza and beer at her house but grew tired after Hightower and the boy went into her bedroom and didn't return.
The students told officials that they could hear Hightower and the boy having sexual intercourse in her bedroom and left her residence.
Officials are now searching for Hightower and if arrested, could face up to 15 years in prison for second degree rape and up to five years in prison or a maximum $5,000 fine for furnishing alcohol to a minor.
