Tulsa County -

Police are investigating why a Tulsa residence was the target of multiple gun shots early Thursday morning.

Officials said it happened just after midnight around the 800 block of North Union Avenue when the home was shot at least 14 to 15 times.

At the time of the incident, seven people were in the house and had just gone to bed when they heard the gun shots go off.

Police told Channel 8 that one of the people inside the house was a young child who was asleep on a sofa located in the room that received the gun fire. He said several of the rounds fired went above the child's head through a big picture window.

According to reports, the residents weren't able to get a description of the vehicle and only heard it drive off.

An investigation is underway. Stay tuned with KTUL.com as we follow this incident.
