I-244 Repairs Scheduled For Friday, Closed Till Thanksgiving

Posted: Updated:

I-244 bridge repairs are scheduled to begin Friday, Oct. 19.

All lanes of east and westbound 3rd St./Charles Page Boulevard will close underneath the bridge Friday at 9 a.m. and will remain closed until repairs have been completed.

Oklahoma Department of Transportation engineers have designed an expedited repair plan for the eastbound section of the I-244 bridge over 3rd St./Charles Page Boulevard.

The bridge was heavily damaged after a vehicle struck it on Monday, Oct. 15.

The repair plan chosen is hoped to have the interstate open by Thanksgiving. A $20,000 per day incentive has also been implemented to help restore traffic ahead of schedule.

ODOT has estimated the costs of the repair contract with Manhattan Road & Bridge to be $450,000.  The costs are expected to be recovered from the party responsible for the damage to the bridge.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area or at least adjust schedules for significant delays.
