The meeting began with a detailed look at crime in the immediate vicinity of the folks in the audience.
"Had three burglaries to autos," said a sergeant with the Broken Arrow police department.
He urged residents to go with their gut when wondering whether or not to call 9-1-1.
"Anything that makes the hair on the back of your neck rise up, call," he said.\
And if you're suspicious about someone knocking on your door?
"Just go to the door and say, 'I'm busy! My husband's cleaned his gun, he doesn't have time," laughed another officer.
In addition to the advice, officers informed residents of the availability of neighborhood watch signs.
"I learned about the signs that neighborhoods can get which I thought could be be good because our neighborhood does not have those," said resident Renata Copsey.
