Oklahoma Group Releases Evaluations, Rankings of Judicial Members

Posted: Updated:

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A group aligned with The State Chamber is releasing its evaluation of judges on the Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals.

The Oklahoma Civil Justice Council released its evaluation Tuesday of 9 judges. It says three others were not ranked because they didn't participate in enough cases during the study.

The scores are based on an analysis of cases that impact economic development and involve the expansion or restraint of "liability creation." The State Chamber represents some of the state's largest business and has advocated for changes to Oklahoma's workers' compensation and civil justice systems.

The ratings range from 91% for Judge Kenneth Buettner to 38% of Judge John Fischer.

Oklahoma American Civil Liberties Union head Ryan Kiesel says the rankings "could inject partisanship and politics into the judiciary."
