Seasoned
runners and beginning health enthusiasts are convening Saturday
downtown for one of Oklahoma's most historic running events.
The
35th annual Tulsa Run will begin with at 8 am at the Hyatt Regency
Downtown. The race is schedule to last through 8 pm with activities for
adults and children.
Out of town racers also can arrive to Tulsa early with packet pick up beginning for them at 6 am.
On
Thursday, officials at the Tulsa Sports Commission announced that
registration for the race would close early due to a maximum capacity
level of participants.
According to their release, registrations
neared 10,000 individuals at the time of closing. But while registration
is close, there is still plenty to due for family members and
spectators attending.
"We encourage everyone to come out to Finish Line Fest and enjoy the
atmosphere," Alex Alston, executive director of the Tulsa
Sports Commission said. "Watch the football games, cheer on your
friends who are participating, and enjoy some food, beverages and live
music."
According to the event's website, the Tulsa Run boasts a 15k, 5k and 2k Fun Run for beginners and children.
Finish line festivities, live music and food and drink also will be present for all those in attendance.
