Posted: Updated:

Family members and loved ones were joined by the Department of Transportation Friday to dedicate a portion of US Highway 75 in honor of a fallen Oklahoma State Trooper.

William "Bill" McClendon was honored with a new sign baring his name Friday morning. Those in attendance convened at the south highway marker located on the north end of the City of Okmulgee near Celia Berryhill Road

The portion of highway in his name, located south of the City of Okmulgee, stretches for approximately 12 miles from the Tulsa/Okmulgee line.

According to the release from the state highway patrol, Trooper McClendon was killed on October 1st, 2006, in an on-duty traffic collision on the Will Rogers Turnpike in Rogers County.

Tulsa's Channel 8 was on scene during the dedication. Check back for video of the event.
