Man with Woman's Ear in Pocket Formally Charged, Due in Court Today
TULSA, Okla. -
A 24-year-old man is due in a Tulsa court Thursday after police arrested him for allegedly assaulting a woman and holding her against her will.
Joseph Sidney Hall Jr., of Tulsa, is set to appear in court Thursday morning on charges of domestic assault and battery, kidnapping, maiming (mayhem) and obstructing or interfering with a police officer
Officers were contacted at approximately 1:13 a.m. about an injured woman fleeing the Braden Creek Apartments.
According to the police report, the woman told officers that "she had been severely assaulted and held against her will" by the father of her son.
The report states that the woman was attacked and had several injuries to her face head, torso, arms and legs. Officers also noticed she had several bite marks and a portion of her right ear had been torn or cut off.
The injured mother is being treated at St. Francis for numerous injuries including broken ribs and a collapsed lung, according to the report.
Hall was taken into custody and refused to cooperate with officers as well as lying about the location of the child.
While Hall was being booked, the victim's ear was found in Hall's pocket.
Hall has a tattoo on his chest stating "misunderstood."
Deputies with the Haskell County Sheriff's Office stated that Edward Branch escaped the jail Tuesday morning. Jail employees noticed he was missing and began their search for him around the jail.More >>
