Family and friends of former Channel 8 news anchor Bob Hower will gather together Monday at a downtown church for a memorial service.

Hower's family will hold their memorial service at 2 pm. The service will be held in the sanctuary at the First Presbyterian Church at 709 South Boston.

Following the service, those in attendance will move to Stephenson Hall, located at the church, to share stories, memories and watch a video montage of Hower. Refreshments will be served during the memorial.

Those interested also can join the family at Elote's, located two blocks from the church at 514 S Boston Ave.

Hower was a long-time anchor for KTUL starting in 1970.  He started the segment "Waiting Child" in 1980, which features children up for adoption looking for a forever family.

Back in September when Hower died, his daughter Pamela says he died surrounded by his family.

"He made his transition totally in peace and both JD and I were blessed to be with him and guide him to the white light and the crowd that was waiting to welcome him, especially his little girl, Stacey," Pamela said.
