Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe is teaming up with a GOP Senate Candidate whose comment about "legitimate rape" attracted national media attention.

Inhofe is campaigning with Todd Akin at a series of events Monday in the St. Louis area.

Akin said in mid-August that women's bodies have ways of blocking pregnancy in cases of what he called "legitimate rape."

Akin has apologized for the remark.

Akin is challenging Democrat Claire McCaskill for her seat representing Missouri in the U.S. Senate.

McCaskill released a new ad today calling Akin "scary" because of his comments.

At a Monday energy roundtable in St. Louis County, Akin said McCaskill's votes in support of

President Obama's policies are what many Missourians find scary.

Akin has received financial help from political committees associated with Inhofe and several other Republican senators, including Jim DeMint of South Carolina, Rand Paul of Kentucky, Saxby Chambliss of Georgia, and Jon Kyl of Arizona.
