Red Cross Asking For Platelet Donations

Posted: Updated:

Oklahomans are already helping victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Five volunteers from the Tulsa Red Cross flew to Baltimore, Maryland on Sunday.

They could be deployed to other areas depending on where they're needed.

The Red Cross says they will most likely work in shelters with evacuees.

The Tulsa Red Cross is asking for donations of blood and platelets.

Platelets are only good for five days, so the need could become drastic on the East Coast.

The Red Cross says donating platelets takes about 2 hours.

You can contact them online at tulsaredcross.org or by phone at 918-831-1100.
