Halloween Night Is Very Dangerous For Kids

Posted: Updated:

A lot of people are talking about the safe trick-or-treating.

But it turns-out, it's not just routine public-service chatter.

It's by far the most dangerous day of the year, when it comes to kids being hit by cars.

The CEO of Safe Kid Worldwide, says twice as many kids are killed on Halloween night than any other night of the year.

Kate Carr wants to encourage parents to have a long talk with their kids, before they go out.

The should talk with them, about how to cross the street and which houses to visit.

Carr says parents should also join their kids, when they go out into the neighborhood.

Their research show 12% of children under 5 don't have an adult to walk with them.

She says an older brother or sister isn't enough, because they're thinking more about candy than safety.

Carr also wants to make sure that kids are visible.

They need a flash light, reflective material or a light colored costume.

The should also take off their masks, while walking between homes or crossing the street.

She also recommends checking the candy once it's home.

Just to make sure it's safe to eat.
