Senior Rebates Included In Vision 2

Posted: Updated:

For months the election board has been preparing for the November 6th election. But for some senior citizens and Vision 2 there are still questions that need to be answered.

Inside B-J's Hair Salon...

"A lot of people still don't understand," says B-J Lawson.

There's almost never a shortage of conversation

"I don't really know anything about it. Like I said, but they said it's a good idea," says Tulsa County Resident Maxine Bookout.

Unless the topic switches to vision 2....

"There is a provision in there for a rebate for people 65 and older, heard anything about that."

Senior citizens we talked to are just now learning about rebates they'd be eligible for under Vision 2.

"Our seniors are our most caring citizens."

City Councilor Jeannie Cue asking questions about oversight while still trying to spread the word to seniors.

"People are really checking into this, there's a lot that I don't know that I'm trying to find out," says Tulsa City Councilor Jeannie Cue.

Proposition one, under Vision 2 is about airport improvements. It would mean an extra 13 dollars for eligible seniors. Proposition 2 is for community of life improvements and would mean an extra 11 dollars a year in rebates. That's a total of 24 dollars a year. For those on fixed incomes it adds up.

"But if it's explained to these people and they understand it , they will acknowledge the fact that somebody is trying to help them and they care," says B. J. Lawson.

Councilor Cue says 25 thousand residents applied for the rebates last year. She says that number could increase if more people knew about it.
