A 7-year-old boy died this morning after being hit by a car in the 2100 block of North Harvard.
Tulsa Police identified the boy as 7-year-old Elijah Rivers.
Tulsa Police said he was with his 12-year-old sister standing on the side of Harvard when he stepped out in front of the car and was hit.
The boy was transported the hospital and pronounced dead, police said.
The boy was wearing a Halloween costume, paramedics said.
Both the Tulsa Lighthouse Charter School and Superintendent Keith Ballard issued statements following this morning's events.
"Tulsa Lighthouse Charter School is deeply saddened by the loss of life that occurred this morning when one of our scholars was fatally hit by a car," Jamila MacArthur, Tulsa Lighthouse Principal said. "The safety of our students is the primary concern at Tulsa Lighthouse Charter School. We share the pain felt by so many and grieve with the family."
The incident occurred a block and a half away from a school zone at the intersection of Harvard and Virgin Street.
"We are saddened by the loss this morning of 7-year-old Elijah Rivers, a student at Tulsa Lighthouse Charter School, who was struck by a car this morning," Superintendent Ballard said. "No words can express the hurt we feel in our hearts for this young man and his family. Our sincere condolences to Elijah's family and his classmates and teachers at Tulsa Lighthouse Charter School."
Ballard added that several students at Celia Clinton Elementary School witnessed the incident Wednesday morning. Elijah and his sister were en route to a bus stop located near Celia Clinton.
