Bixby, OK -
Students at a Bixby elementary school were evacuated Wednesday morning following an incident of a car crashing into a gas line.
Officials at Bixby Public Schools said the incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. after a car ran into a gas line at Bixby Central Elementary. The gas line was located next to the cafeteria on the south side of the school.
KTUL.com was told following the incident that students, teachers and faculty were evacuated from the building. Buses were brought over and students were taken to Bixby High School, two blocks from Central Elementary.
Around 9:30, officials at BPS said the gas leak had been capped and the fire marshall had cleared the building for reentry. Calls have been made to parents and students are being bussed back to school for the remainder of the day.
Officials also told KTUL.com that there were no injuries at the school.
Food also will be brought in from the high school since gas fed into the cafeteria. Oklahoma Natural Gas is currently at the school beginning repairs to the school
