S.S. Voters May Approve Monument Taller Than Statue of Liberty

On Election Day, Sand Springs voters could decide to bring a monument to their community.

At 21 stories tall, The American would be taller than the Statue of Liberty.

The price is $36 million from private funds.

An exact location has not been released.

Next Tuesday, voters will decide whether to increase a hotel tax to help pay for its promotion.

We're told tourism for the statue could bring $90,000 a year to the city.
