TU Film Students Get Touch of Hollywood

Posted: Updated:

A group of young filmmakers got some real-life experience Wednesday night.

A Hollywood director is helping the University of Tulsa students with a project.

We found them on campus turning a girl's dorm basement into a spooky jailhouse interrogation room.

They're filming a series of short films written by S.E. Hinton.

Ed Ornelas has worked on hit shows, including ABC's Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice.

He was able to give the students some pointers to help them grow.

"When I was a film student, I had a lot of questions about what it was like to work on these large-scale shows," says Ornelas. "And having lived in L.A. for 15 years now, I'm able to come out here and hopefully share some of that experience to the young filmmakers."

"We're here in Oklahoma, so we don't get a lot of L.A. people coming down to see us and wanna film here," says TU junior Bailey Ardies. "So anytime a movie comes to Oklahoma and we get to work with somebody, that's really exciting for us."

The project continues filming next week.

No word on when it might be complete.
